Day 75 Report

.Day 75 - 9/8/07 - Starting towards Menindee

Steve's Report: e have intermittent reception about 40km from Wilcannia towards Menindee so maybe this will go through.

Well it was back out the road I had walked in on and then turn right. Last night I drank a can of drink that a kind truckie called Duck had stopped and given me when he saw me come off the dirt onto the Cobar Wilcannia road. I am walking in my really expensive hiking shoes. They are size 9 (not 10) but as yet my feet have not started to swell significantly. They seem to be a lot better in the rough and the bruising on the balls of my feet is not so sore. Today we made about 35km in some pretty tough going so I am quite pleased with that. To tell the truth I am getting a bit sick of this area. The people are always great but it just goes on and on and on. It is a bit hard to go any faster though.

Jonathan's Report: Today Steve battled through a howling westerly along the very straight dirt road and called it a day at 4:45pm where we set up camp some 40kms down stream from Wilcannia.  Scotch fillet with diane sauce, mash, peas and corn is on the K4E menu tonight to keep Steve on his feet and keep truckin along in the morning.

Not a bend in sight Even shallow bulldust like this really
makes the going tough
Ready to cook. Rod wanted some bright
colours of the outback and the only way to
get them was to take a photo of the fire
