Day 93 Report

Day 93 - 27/8/07 - 67kms Downstream of Wentworth

Very windy today. I reckon 35knots. I could sit on 9km/hr with the wind behind me but it was a different story with it head on. I had lunch on the water and got up to 5km/hr just holding the paddle right. Against the wind you just go as hard as possible. When the gust dies down the kayak will surge to almost 7 km/hr which gives a bit of momentum to get through the next one. It is quite wet paddling but the day was warm so I didn't mind.

When we got back to camp the tent had been blown flat so I guess that shows it was windy. There were also a couple of caravan anexes that looked a bit crook.

We have arranged with Simmonds and Bristow to do some water sampling down the Murray so that should be interesting. The results will be posted on this site. Speaking of sponsors, don't forget if you want a job in the water industry or if you need an employee in the water industry contact Peter Brown at the Executive Resource Group via our sponsors page. He has always been a great help to me.

Ended today 67km downstream Wentworth.

Started out a great day Interesting banks
Tucked in ready to go and do battle with the wind Nearly missed this short cut
Historic pump station
Downstream Lock 9. 500ML/day passing here
which is barely enough to prevent salinity
on an anabranch downstream
Waiting for Jonathan to pick me up.
Not much up above the banks eh
