Day 122 Report

.Day 122 - 25/9/07 - Glenelg to Adelaide City

Steve's Report: Well, it is finally finished! Or is it just the start?  Amanda turned up in time to walk the last few kilometres into Adelaide City Hall where I was greeted by the Lord Mayor and the media as well as some mates from the water industry. A big thanks to everyone who has helped to make this trip possible.

We are resting Wednesday, conducting some interviews and then heading to Menindee school Thursday to make a presentation.
I will put some final thoughts together over the weekend and Geoff will probably post them on the site on Monday. So, don't drop the site just yet. The Simmonds and Bristow results are starting to come in and the levels of phosphorus in the Murray are very high. Their results will eventually go on the site.
Also, when I get home and things settle down I will make an announcement on what life might have in store next. Certainly there willl be a book. Will we use footage taken for a documentary? Not sure.

For now I would like to single out some people for a very special thanks. The bloke who has put in the biggest effort for the longest and with the most effect is Geoff McBride. His efforts on the web site have been fantastic and really made the trip. Then there are the maps that we used. Without Bryce and Carol's efforts we would have been in a lot of trouble. The maps were essential. Jenny Cobbin's continuous efforts with the schools allowed me to make a difference in a lot of areas and I would have to say talking to the kids was a great highlight. And last but not least, Amanda, who has patiently helped all the way from the beginning including writing countless press releases until we got it the way people wanted it. To all those who have helped but I have not singled out yet, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Together we have made a difference!

To Jonathan, who is in Hawaii on his way to Canada, the seven weeks we spent together were the greatest highlight of the trip. Don't forget you promised to keep me posted on your surfing action.

And just one final thing, the vast majority of the media has been great. Thanks folks, I really appreciate it.

Steve
