It was further out to the river and we had a long radio interview this morning so I didn’t set off until 9:20am. It seemed like a good idea to count the fast flowing bits that I paddled through but I lost count at about 20 after an hour or so.
We got some good shots but it was a bugger of a day made especially bad by a dopey decision to take a short cut through on of the cuts. So today included a few hundred metres of really hard slog up big banks, over huge log jams and over rock weirs.
Everyone was a bit concerned with the sun disappearing and not being able to make radio contact but all was well when I saw Giovanni’s light at about 5.30pm.
Everything is sore tonight, back, shoulders, legs, arms, and there is a blister in an area on my hand that is hard to tape up. A good night’s sleep is what is needed.
